Ryker started playing Soccer this fall! This was his first game a few weeks ago...
He was so excited. The team is made up of many of his friends from the neighborhood as well as Sean's high school buddies' kids. At the beginning of the game he did exactly what we expected him to do...ran around chasing the ball with the rest of the 3-year-old little mob...
After about the first quarter he started just hanging out in right field with his shirt up over his shoulders watching the other players...not so much what we anticipated!
Nobody keeps score (but if we did we lost horribly), it's just meant to be a non-competitive, fun first exposure to an organized team sport. The best part of the game was in the last 2 minutes. Our team had finally gotten onto the other teams side of the field. After the coach saw this he pulled off all his players from the field early saying, "Alright, that's game! Everybody off the field, great job!" just so our team would finally have a chance to score with no one defending them! They scored, and jumped for joy giving each other a round of high fives. It was hilarious!
Since this first game Ryker has gotten much better at staying focused. He runs almost the whole time and has even gotten a little more brave at trying to get to the ball. We love our little soccer buddy and this new Saturday morning family activity!
